To tell other people the good news of salvation through Jesus.

Everyone has the right to know the facts about Jesus so that they can make an informed decision to be for him or against him.  (there is no neutral ground!)

Because the Bible says :

“Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them  … and  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded.”

Matthew 28 : 18-20

“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.”

2 Timothy 4:2-3

“Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.”

Matthew 12: 30 â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

To pray for the sick and suffering

Being ill or suffering with other problems can be a lonely place.   We offer to stand with you, and to bring your prayer requests to the One who made you, and who loves you, and is able to help you.

Because the Bible says :

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

James 5:14

To be a place of friendship, where Christians can support, encourage and honour one another.

Being a Christian in today’s culture is not always easy – many are ridiculed by family and friends, and in some countries people are second-class citizens, imprisoned or killed, because they follow Jesus.

Because the Bible says :

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour.” Romans 12: 10

“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.”

Ephesians 4:11-16

To learn to follow the teaching of Jesus

Our human nature makes us inclined to ‘please myself’ . Those who follow Jesus need to learn to overcome the natural tendency towards rebellion against God’s word, and live in freedom from the ways of the world

Because the Bible says :

“To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Ephesians 4:22-24

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. “

Romans 12: 2

To help people in need.

People are not meant to be lonely or self-centred – we are by nature sociable and meant to give and receive from others

Because the Bible says :

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘. . .  For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a] you did it to me.”  Matthew 25:34-40

To learn what the Bible says

We read and explain the Scriptures in our Sunday service and study the Bible in more detail on Fridays.

 Because the Bible says :

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”

2 Timothy 3:16

“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.”

2 Timothy 4:2-3

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

John 8:32

To worship God together

‘Worship’ means showing what God is worth – as Creator, Healer, Lord and Saviour, He is worth everything!  We give up a couple or hours or so of our time on Sundays to demonstrate what God is worth to us.

Because the Bible says :

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

Psalm 103:1-22

“Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

Hebrews 10:25

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

1 Peter 2:9-10
